Repairs for disk and player Empty
PostSubject: Repairs for disk and player   Repairs for disk and player EmptyThu Jun 09, 2011 10:00 am

Hi I work at a London Gallery who have just bought a work from the early 90s on laserdisk. The disk and player are in bad shape and wont play. Does any one know a laser disk specialist preferably in London but also further afield?

I've seen a lot of forums mentioning this site:

http://www.videotec.co.uk/

According to posts I've seen they specialise in laserdisc repairs, especially Pioneer machines. However I've had a quick glance around their site and can't see any mention of laserdisc, but they'd certainly be worth a call.

They're based in Oxford.

Hope this helps.

Regarding the player if you look at the options repair or replace you might find that is simply cheaper to just buy another player depending on the type /
model of the player. You can still find players for sale on ebay but if possible I would try and find one that you can pick up ,Ive had many players posted to me with mixed results and approx 50% arrived damaged. Once you have a working player you can then test the disc but to my knowledge once a disc is in poor condition and will not play it is not something that can be repaired.
