AUTOGRAPHED LASERDISCS Empty
PostSubject: AUTOGRAPHED LASERDISCS   AUTOGRAPHED LASERDISCS EmptySun Jun 05, 2011 10:22 am

I bought an excellent collection of discs a few months ago and a casino royale laserdisc that came in the collection was signed. The collection had belonged to someone who worked in the film industry and all the discs he had were given to him as gifts, he sold the collection due to moving abroad. I had no idea who had signed it untill I received a message on ebay today informing me that it is the signature of Burt Bacharach. I have checked Burt Bacharachs signature and it matches , its great that I now know who has signed it.

Hell of a hike though ADMIN. Slapping £30 on the price...!

When you're as old as me, or typically people from my generation, even then you are at the point where people are starting to loose track of the likes of BURT BACHARACH...the songs maybe recalled better, but the name behind the songs?

I wonder who many younger folks out there know BB and his work without the aid of Bing/Google..?

I'm 25 and I've known who Burt Bacharach is probably since I was around 10ish.

Then again I have a large LP and growing laserdisc collections so I wouldn't exactly list myself as a normal younger folk.

Well that is fantastic! It really is. But I feel that your second comment rather makes my point for me...it would take a broader focusing person such as yourself to know. You refer to your own self as perhaps not like the more ordinary (doesn't quite sound right, but you know what I mean).

I myself have tried to future proof this, to some extent, in our son as he has grown up on a healthy diet of Will Hay, Stan and Ollie, Eric & Ernie, Fools & Horses, Last of The Summer Wine, Open All Hours, Norman Wisdom...and so on. and he loves it all!

I have put a best offer on it , but now I know who signed it I really dont mind keeping hold of it. I havent too many autograhped laserdiscs so the price relects how much I want to sell it. If a member of the forum wanted it and it was for themselves then I would probably sell it for almost half the listed price.
I have just looked and a BURT BACHARACH index card signed is for sale for $179 so the laserdisc is still very cheap.
On the whole the laserdiscs in the dinodisc store are cheap but there are a few and it is only a few that I would rather keep than sell for less than they are worth to me.
The Keep will be an example of this , If I sell it I will be listing that at £199 but it is sealed and I would rather keep it than accept any less.

This is probably more of a lament on my part because I knew that it was BB but I just did not have the funds at the time, at the previous price (MOT got in the way!) Now it is more than i 'd want to pay for that particular title anyway. HO HUM!!!!

Daron if you ever really want something in the dinodisc store just message me on the forum and I will be happy to put it aside for you for a month or so and that goes for all members. If after a month you decide you dont want it then even thats ok just let me know and I would just relist it and no harm done.
Now as for the casino royale laserdisc I would be more than happy to keep it but if you want it PM me with an offer and I will see what I can do.
